We’ll upload more videos here so check back often.
We had a blast working with Scott McGillivray on Season 1 of Scott’s Vacation House Rules and were so thrilled to see the reactions on Mark and Lynne in their newly renovated Pet Paradise rental cottage. It was a full cottage reno with an excellent finish. See the full video here for our Canadians followers and here for our American followers
Follow along as we take a tour of an amazing cottage we just finished on Loon Lake. Custom kitchen, screened in porch, and enough bedrooms to host the extended family for the holidays.
Just a short intro into what some of our current clients say about us. Come back later as we will be posting the full interviews.

John & Elenor Laycock
“It’s been great having a home built by a family owned company rather than a company that just builds home for the sake of building homes and making money. They want to make sure that we are comfortable in our home in getting the style and location that would be good with us. So working with a family owned company that has been building in the Haliburton area for 30+ years has been great.”

Gordon Cressy and Joanne Campbell
of our older cottage from the basement up. They were creative and imaginative in their design suggestions.
Their workmanship is high quality and their attention to the detail in the finishes is excellent.
Once we agreed on the project, Greg and Andrew stuck to the plan, with no
unexpected changes, except those requested by us. And the project was
completed within budget. Greg was accessible at all times, and Andrew, Benton and
the crew on site were fantastic to work with.
Their specialty is screened-in porches. Ours is a work of art.
Greg Brown Construction is a family enterprise, and one of the bonuses of working with them
was seeing this terrific family in action.”

This is just a small snippet of some of the work we do. We tackle all sizes of projects in all weather with the best attitude all the time.
it runs in the family
What started out as a proposal in 1977 has continually grown and expanded over these last 38 years to a fun loving (and somewhat loud) family of 19. Greg, Kim, and their five kids have now become 21 people through marriages and the addition of grandchildren.
Brown + Co. has been, and will always be a family business, which means although there are only six members of our family represented on this site, everyone contributes in some way.
Greg started into construction in his early days and with his wife, Kim , as his partner, started Greg Brown Constuction, now Brown & Co., in 1982. He has continued to serve Haliburton in major commercial and residential construction as well as every size of renovation projects. Among his credentials are Certified R2000 Builder, Certified HVAC Installer, New Home Warranty Program member, CGC Certified Geothermal Loop Installer, and Licensed Residential Septic Supervisor for design and installations. He has also served on the Haliburton County Economical Development Board for fifteen years, the Kawartha Lakes Northumberland Haliburton Training Board for five years and the Haliburton County Sustainable Forestry Association for five years. In the last eight years, Greg has also been operating Haliburton Geothermal, as a subsidiary of his construction business to promote green energy heating options for residents and successfully retrofitting many homes from using oil and propane furnaces. Concurrently, he is developing Stothart Creek, a prime residential community of forty custom homes to be built in the next ten years, just outside of Haliburton village. His off duty enjoyments in life are to spend time off at the ocean in North Carolina, where he honeymooned with Kim, his wife of 38 years. He is a proud father of five children and a loving grandpa of ten.
Kim is the wife of Greg and his partner in business since the beginning. She manages the office, but her area of expertise is definitely keeping Greg and their three boys in line. Kim has pursued her interest in design by becoming a qualified interior designer with a specialty certification as a True Colour Expert. This serves our clients from the onset of their building project by understanding undertones and colours when selecting all their finishes. When she is not at her computer, you will find Kim baking delicious treats for the clients or the crew or her family. She also enjoys life with a camera in hand and travelling regularly to visit her two daughters and her parents. Don’t be surprised that when you stop by, she may be in gardening or painting clothes, since building a beautiful home is her passion.
Andrew Brown, the eldest son of Greg Brown, has been serving the company for the last 15 years. During this time he has acquired his Carpentry License, Septic Installer & Designer License, and CGC Certification for Geothermal Installer & Designer . He has also become specialized in home automation and similar to Greg, he continues to pursue knowledge and training in the latest technologies and advancements for homes. Andrew continued his education at Wilfrid Laurier University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies. Just as much as he enjoys working outdoors and “swinging a hammer”, he manages the social media updates via Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and the websites for Brown & Co, Stothart Creek, Haliburton Geothermal, and Haliburton Septic Systems.
Benton Brown is a University of Guelph graduate, licenced carpenter and licenced septic designer. He has worked with Brown & Co since he was 17 during the summer months of his education and had the opportunity to work for a Waterloo based construction company building large estate homes during his last year in Guelph. He has enjoyed the challenge of this industry and the learning opportunities it has presented. After developing skills as a foreman, machine operator and sales representative for Brown & Co, Benton’s role has now evolved; acting as the main facilitator of work-flow, scheduling and project management. Though each project offers its own challenges, Benton believes that through team motivation and client communication, every project can be executed efficiently and on-time!
Jordan Brown has an advanced diploma in landscape design and is an experienced machine operator. After further developing his education in design with a Toronto-based company, Jordan has moved back to Haliburton and is currently completing his apprenticeship as a licenced carpenter with Brown & Co. Jordan has been able to apply his expertise in computer-based design work to provide our clients with detailed plan illustrations and 3D renderings. He has enjoyed expanding his knowledge and abilities in the construction field and looks forward to new opportunities with Brown & Co.
Maggie has joined the Brown family 14 years ago as the wife of Andrew, and then joined the business not long after their move to Haliburton in 2006. After graduating from the Faculty of Science at Laurier, it was her Introduction to Business class in her last semester that inspired a shift in her career goals. Entrepreneurship mixed with a passion for creativity and organization has been what landed Maggie in her role as the Kitchen and Bath designer at Brown + Co. She loves meeting the clients and works closely with them to ensure their unique vision and needs are accomplished. When she is not in the office, she is likely with her kids, making a creative mess or volunteering in our community.
